The bad dreams are back again...
by Pandoras cat11 ini know dreams are our brains way of dealing with problems or situations that are occuring in our life.
the experts say it is healthy and to an extent i believe this.
how can it be healthy when you wake up shaking and trying to mouth "jehovah" or "help".

The worst dream I had...my beloved and dearly departed was chasing me. I wound up in a swimming pool trying to get away because he was chasing me with a hand gun. When I got to the edge of the pool to get out, he was there, pointing the gun...bang. I woke up before the bullet hit my forehead.
That scared me. I loved grandpa (non-jw) and he loved me. It freaked me out. I thought it was because of my doubts and that scripture about family turning on family and giving them up.
I never had it again...but I can relate to being scared to death in a dream! I am so sorry. I hope they go away. If you pray, have you tried praying about your dreams before you drift off?

When Did You First Get Exposed To "Apostate" Info? How Did It Affect You?
by minimus inas a kid, i used to read all the watchtowers of the 40s and 50s to see how the present day information developed from its original "thought".
i was exposed to many eye opening statements but i swept them under the carpet (although it stayed in the recesses of my brain) until the time was right.. so for me, it was a gradual thing.. how were you affected by your first encounters with "apostate" material?

I saw protesters back when I was younger at District conventions, but never paid them any attention.
But when I typed ex-jw into google and landed on freeminds and jwd. I shook with fear at my step outside the Borg. I was terrified of being struck down.

In the past 20 years, have you seen a balanced, educated adult not raised by JW parents get baptized as a JW?
by BonaFide ini am not criticizing those who have gone through depression or a traumatic experience.
nor am i criticizing those who were raised as a witness as i was.. but i am curious to know if any of you have seen a person from the territory, not a relative of a witness, no recent tragedies or emotional problems, not a young runaway, not a drug user, but an educated adult who began a study with jehovah's witnesses, and eventually got baptized.. when i was a missionary, i met a gilead couple who had been in their assignment for 19 years.
i asked them about that.

There was one couple (both college graduates with great jobs, living in a nice house and nice neighborhood...you know, the ones that born in jws can't afford or those counting on the end in their lifetime never made preparations for) that joined about 10-12 years ago.
It always baffled hubby and I what drew them. They seemed to have great family ties in the area. I remember the husband saying once that they were looking for a new church, and didn't care for the Lutheran one they tried.
I was sure when they were first coming, the wife was just going along with her husband. She was quiet and reserved and very sweet and respectful of him. They waited to get baptised together. Their oldest just graduated. I still wonder why, with all the chance of searching out the religion, that they fell for it. It never made sense to me.
They brought a lot to the congregation. The husband was a total, sweet goofball. Boy scout material all the way. He brought some fun for the brothers and their sons. He planned camping trips for dads and sons and they still take them every year. It's a tradition for them all now. Definitely something Watchtower wouldn't endorse! But thankfully, he brought some joy and comraderie to these little boys who were being left behind in so many ways! I wonder how long they will stay, or if it will just become comfortable. It must have been very hard on them, the boys were about 6 and 8 when they joined. Bye bye holidays!

Prominent Baptist Quits Due to Treatment of Women
by rebel8 injimmy carter leaves church over treatment of womenhttp://www.politicsdaily.com/2009/07/20/jimmy-carter-leaves-church-over-treatment-of-women/.
after more than 60 years together, jimmy carter has announced himself at odds with the southern baptist church -- and he's decided it's time they go their separate ways.
via feministing, the former president called the decision "unavoidable" after church leaders prohibited women from being ordained and insisted women be "subservient to their husbands.

Good for him. It is hard for any person to leave their religion.

Beautiful.
I miss Georgia so much, and this just proves why! The people there are true genteel southerners. They are full of love and heart. I miss them and that beautiful state. God bless them all!

Isn't it crazy! I never thought I would see friends run away, although I am pleased to see some not shunning us on the computer socialing networks! May not see them in person, but they've seen holiday pics I have posted and haven't run yet, even though others can see their comments and friends lists!
I didn't have any other friends either Oompa. Thankfully I had family who aren't JW and were my Godsend in my lonliness!
Truth in a chocolate drop...they're going to overtake the fortune cookie!

I am sorry you were treated badly, somewhere on this board. I hope it doesn't happen anymore, but you never know who is really on here sitting behind their keyboard!
I hope you do take your time...all that you need. It took me a long time to leave, and my hubby a long time too. I'd say from the time his doubts started until we were both free, was about 7 years. The last year was highly excelerated for us and a major move across the country helped with that. We were able to distance ourselves enough to think on our own and not "answer" to family at each and every meeting or if we missed a meeting!
I wish you all the best and I understand your thought on your friends. It is heart wrenching to know they love you that much, but don't see what you see. I hope all goes as you have planned. Best wishes.

And they never invited you to your own funeral? What a rip off! Maybe you can catch the next one...but I hear it's a long wait for that show! I'm hoping mines just a one act production...but wow! What a rumor mill they had going! No information to gossip about and they decide to whack you off! Would that be a gossip maffia? LOL!
Hello Red Fireball! Isn't there a candy with that name? I seem to remember causing much ruin to my teeth with those. Glad to have you onboard! Hope you enjoy! If you dig around, you'll find some interesting information about the Society you never heard of! It's an eyeopener! Have fun...but be forewarned...it is addictive!
